Niseko Snow Report
Niseko Hatsuyuki 2021
Hatsuyuki means the first snow of the season in Japanese, and this was recorded this year on 17th October. After a relatively mild month so far temperatures in
Niseko ski resort
dropped overnight on Saturday and we awoke on Sunday to find much of the Niseko area covered in a light layer of fresh white snow. This is the first time we can remember that hatsuyuki on Mt. Yotei was seen on the same day that snow fell in the village - usually snow is spotted on the top of Mt. Yotei days or even weeks in advance and everyone watch the freezing white line creep down the mountain until it reaches Niseko Hirafu and the other Niseko ski resort areas.

We don't expect the first snow of the season to stay on the ground for long. However, it is a reminder that the start of the 2021-2022 Japan ski season is only 6 weeks away with Niseko Village due to open on the 3rd December while Niseko Hirafu, Annupuri and Hanazono will start ski lift operations the following day on 4th December!
