Furano resort’s extensive variety of runs means that there is suitable terrain for any ski or snowboarding level. As it is Hokkaido’s highest mountain, Furano offers advanced skiers and snowboarders incredibly steep runs and some of the best backcountry around. Mid-level skiers and boarders will enjoy a huge variety of perfectly-groomed runs, with about 40% of the mountain classified as intermediate. For those beginner skiers and boarders, there are some wonderful family-friendly runs on either side of the mountain, with about 40% considered beginner runs. Furano ski resort also has two ski schools with English-speaking instructors available.
Furano is separated into two main areas, the Kitanomine zone, and the Furano Zone each with a ski-in-ski-out hotel at its base. The Kitanomine zone also has a small village area below, with a variety of accommodations, as well as cafes, bars and restaurants. The town of Furano lies just beyond that, a quick shuttle ride from the ski area, where you will find a wonderful selection of restaurants and retail shops.
